New Members

Oxford Latvian Society

Calling all new members of the Oxford University community!

Are you from Latvia? Do you have an unusual life story that somehow connects you to Latvia? Or are you interested in taking part in a society for events related to Latvia?

All our previous members have been either of the above. The society was founded by James Soper who fell in love with Latvian choir music while living in Riga for a year, and was supported by Gen Tan and Mat Patel who took part in organising events with no prior connection to Latvia. Lately the society has been developing further under the guidance of its most recent committee consisting of two students from Latvia, Marta Rikša and Inese Zepa, and a very enthusiastic fan of Riga from Japan, Aiko Morii.

We are an open-minded society that welcomes members from all over the world. The society was founded to celebrate Latvian culture in its broadest sense and we are always looking for new connections with other societies.

If you think you might want to be a part of our community as well, do get in touch with us at our at!

All the best to everyone starting the new academic year!
